Feed the Hood Boston
Feed The Hood is a Boston based mutual aid program with weekly Sunday distributions of high quality groceries and produce for neighbors facing food insecurity. We also have ongoing periodic distributions of freshly prepared hot and ready to eat meals.
Our Impact
Since 2011:
Our Programs
Feed The Hood
Feed the Hood focuses on Community and Location Based distributions of hot prepared meals and ready to eat meals as well as distributions of groceries and produce directly to people in need in communal housing including Domestic Violence Shelters and Elderly Residences.
Fill Your Fridge
Fill Your Fridge was designed as a direct response program to provide individuals and families in need with groceries.
Our Story

Occupy the Hood mobilizes in cities nationwide as a response to the Occupy Wall Street Movement.

Occupy the Hood Boston is formed as Organize the Hood with the goal of focusing the surge of energe generated by Occupy Wall Street towards existing organizations and movements addressing the goals of social and economic justice.

The Feed The Hood Program in Boston was created by Occupy The Hood Boston in conjunction with the national Occupy The Hood movement. Sister Ife out of Detroit, who was looking for a project that Occupy The Hood chapters across the country could all participate in simultaneously, suggested the date of November 11th, 2011 to begin and this was the birth of Feed The Hood in Boston.
We began simply with a Food Drive, placing boxes at locations such as the Boston University School of Theology, MAMLEO and at our events and Community Forums.

With the community's support we have continued developing our distribution models for hot / ready to eat meals and produce / groceries. Currently we do weekly distributions every Sunday and occasional other special events or distributions in conjunction with our partners.
